Hi Rakesh,

Does this statement relates with Darwin's theory of evolution?

Does this statement tell that jeevan helped in evolution by selecting/choosing/promoting the bodily features it wanted ?

or it conveys something totally different.

-Gopal..

Hi Gopal,

"Evolution happens, Creation doesn't happen" - in that much there is commonality between Darwin's proposition and Madhyasth Darshan's proposition. Why and How evolution happens - there are some basic differences.

Darwin's theory of evolution is based on "principle of natural-selection". Principle of natural-selection is also referred sometimes as - "survival of the fittest". Evolution happens due to struggle for survival, is the proposition of Darwin.

Secondly, Darwin recognized evolution in structure or composition of body and stated Living beings are functioning due to their physiochemical structure. Darwin didn't recognize jeevan - or the conscious-unit which is distinct from body. Madhyasth-Darshan recognizes living-beings to be combined expressions of jeevan (constitutionally-complete atom) and body (physiochemical formation).

Thirdly, Darwin recognizes human-being to be not qualitatively different from animals. While Madhyasth-Darshan recognizes human-being to be an entity of knowledge-order, which is qualitatively-distinct from animals.

In Madhyasth-Darshan - the essential proposition is: "Existence is harmonious and progressive for successive emergence." The evolution happens due to this directionality in existence. This directionality is not just in bodies, but in jeevan also. In jeevan, the evolution is in terms of level of consciousness. It begins with animal-consciousness and culminates in divine-consciousness. Human-consciousness, Godly-consciousness, and Divine-consciousness is realizable through human-body only. The evolution of body happens till emergence of human-body. After that there is no evolution in body. The continuity in different statuses of evolution till human-being is realizable only with awakening in humankind - is also a key proposition of MD, which can't be derived from Darwin's propositions.

I feel, it is not possible to mend or improve the prevalent explanations of existence (be it from Idealism or from Science) - without entering into unending debates with their followers.

Rakesh.

- I think, it doesn't say that Jeevans (conscious units) helped in evolution of bodies. Evolution of bodies is outcome of progressiveness in pranic-cells.

Evolution of body happened - naturally, without "willful intervention" of conscious-units (jeevans).

Jeevan was capable of enlivening successively more-evolved bodies.

Jeevans enlivened those bodies as they emerged in accordance to the specie - and evidenced specie-conformance.

This continued till emergence of human-body, where specie-conformance rule didn't work anymore due to expression of imagination and free-will by jeevan.

Rakesh.

Hi Rakesh,

You mentioned the following :

Existence is harmonious and progressive for successive emergence." The evolution happens due to this directionality in existence.

So If I combine what Baba said and what you mentioned then the direction of evolution really matched with "jeene ki aasha" of jeevan. So the evolution of bodies and "jeene ki aasha" went hand in hand.

Also there have been some evidence that bodies emerged at some point ( even before humans emerged ) are extinct now. Why is that so ? Probably because those were needed at that time and not anymore.

Let me have your take on these two points.

Best,
Gopal.

Hi Rakesh,

The way I am trying to understand is this.

There is directionality in existence and it tries to express itself in terms of better and better forms of co-existence. Human body probably is best form of co-existence of the inert nature.

As emergence/evolution happens in terms of successive better forms of coexistence, naturally jeevan would like to live those bodies, because those are much better for jeevan and fulfilling its jeene ki aasha.

So in general jeene ki assha is always for the better and better bodies, but which is how the evolution happens. I guess this is what Baba meant by that statement.

As far as my second point goes, existence is always inclined for expressing better forms of co-existence. why? because existence is coexistence. Every entity in existence always tries to better coexist with rest of the entities. This goes on at every level, whether subatomic particles, atoms, molecules, animals. It does not seem so obvious at times. Due to this natural inclination higher forms of coexistence emerge. Some of these forms are needed only at some point. When the purpose is fulfilled, they extinct but other forms of higher coexistence emerge. They do play a role in emergence though. Because if they dont play a role, they wont even emerge ( we can not really separate cause [ force ] and action [ activity ] ).

Best,
-Gopal.

Yes. I have also understood it the same way.

Nature at its atomic, sub-atomic level is energized in absolute-energy, and therefore it is active. Existence is naturally-inclined for emergence - of ever higher realms of co-existence. The "events" of successive-emergence in natural-world happened due to combination of "possibilities" and "circumstances".

The grandeur of nature emerged chronologically. First material-order emerged in its full glory - soils, stones, gems, and metals. Then plants and vegetations emerged - and the Earth became colourful and with numerous odours. Then emerged the living beings - from simpletons to mammoths! Some species of plants and animals withered away "naturally" - to lay ground for more evolved beings. All this emergence happened naturally, and without any willful interference. The willful activity on Earth started happening with emergence of humankind, which had imagination, the conscious power which couldn't be limited to instinctual-living like animals.

Jeevan thirsts for fulfillment or happiness only in human-living. In animals, it just lives by base-instincts (food, sleep, sex, and fight/flight) according to specie. A jeevan changes the specie it is running (upon the event of death) when there is such possibility and circumstance. So there's no "race" or "competition" happening in jeevans for taking higher states... The progression in jeevan's "aasha gati" is gradual and spontaneous.

Rakesh
