Price and Value

Money is a human invention - it is symbol, not a real thing.  At the root, money is our faith into a piece of paper (or its digital equivalent in computer world) - that when we shell it out we will get whatever we need.  To make money economy work, we have put a price tag on everything and everyone.  This price-tagging of the world may be very convenient, but it is a huge disrespect of value.  The abstraction of price (a number) from value (actual thing) leaves out the room for mischief.  This mischief would get corrected by the invisible hand of Market or by regulation by State, is the claim of economists.  They give very complex explanations when we find ourselves struggling due to economic depression, inflation, mortgage crisis, etc.  It is not easy to comprehend their jargon by all.  We need to question the mindset of the economists and capitalists - since the systems that they invent are manifestations of their mindsets only.  If our mindset is harmonious then the systems of production and exchange that we will design, will also be harmony causing or in support of natural harmony.

Money economy or capitalism is with a mindset of scarcity and competition - which can never ever achieve universal good.  The increase in footprint of capitalism in the last five decades has made human living more difficult and less happy.  The exploitation by human beings of Earth and of other human beings has increased many fold.  There is now a question mark on humankind's survival on Earth.  This course of events needs to be changed.  This change has to be in the human being's mindset or consciousness.  This change can come about only from education that builds the mindset of coexistence and harmony.  Madhyasth Darshan is a proposal for consciousness development - value education.
