Each unit of nature is a whole with its environment and it participates in the overall orderliness of existence. Existence of any unit is not relative to other units. Each unit is a constitution of sub-units. Each unit is an orderliness of its constituent sub-units. Each sub-unit is also a unit, which again is orderliness. The environment of a unit’s activities is the expanse of its influence. Expanse and nature of a unit’s influence depends whether the unit’s status of being is excited or normal. A unit is able to realize its purpose in existence only in its normal or natural status of being. Natural status of being of a unit is also known as innate-nature (sva-bhav).
This influence is ‘outside’ of the limits of unit’s activities. Since each unit is in Space, its influence is in Space itself. If it is a conscious unit (jeevan), then it has a conscious influence. If it is a material unit (physical or chemical object), then it has a material influence. Material influence is in the form of heat, sound and electro-magnetism. Conscious influence is in the form of thoughts.
Influence of a unit gets manifested only in its interaction with other units. No unit is alone, therefore units influence each other. A unit’s influence on other units around it is known as its characteristics (guna). Orderliness is manifestation of mutual influence among units of nature in their natural status of being.
It is important to distinguish influence (characteristics) of a unit from its innate-nature. Innate-nature is common for all units of a natural order. Innate-nature is the usefulness (purpose) of a unit’s influence (characteristics). Conversely, innate-nature gets manifested as influence. For example: the innate-nature of material order is combination and dissolution. Combination and dissolution is manifested by all activities of soils, metals, stones and gems in their own ways. There are many kinds of soils, and each kind of soil has its own characteristics (influence) – but all kinds of soils have the same innate-nature of combination-dissolution.
Some examples to illustrate the above: -
Earth is a unit with its environment and it participates in the orderliness of solar system, which is in Space. In the same way, Sun and other planets are units of the solar system. Sun influences Earth as a whole and the natural orders present on it. In the same way, Moon and other planets also have their influence on Earth. Earth too has its influence.
Each human being is a unit, who is a part in the orderliness of a family, which in turn is a part of society. Each human being has his influence on other human beings and rest of the nature – which is manifestation of his understanding. An awakened human being, or the human being with understanding of existence, influences other human beings by inspiring them for becoming awakened and spreading happiness. Also an awakened human being influences rest of the nature by conserving and nurturing it. A deluded human being, or the human being without the understanding of existence, influences other human beings by provoking them and spreading conflict and misery. Also a deluded human being influences rest of the nature by exploiting and destroying it. Education becomes meaningful when teachers are awakened human beings. Such meaningful education alone can realize the vision of undivided society and universal orderliness in humankind.
