The need for clear understanding and commitment
"Despite being informed of deterioration, in the absence of having clear understanding and commitment, human being helplessly moves towards his downfall in delusion." - Madhyasth Darshan by Shree A. Nagraj.
Would it be fair to say that Shree Nagraj's realization began with him not letting anyone repress his wanting to know, which may explain why the continuation of the human being's downfall does not trigger the fundamental curiosity to know, as this is knowingly or unknowingly extinguished from very early periods in human's life?
I believe that is so. His wanting to know could not be repressed by anyone in the Vedic tradition in which he was born and brought up and also by others with Marxist views. I also believe, fundamental curiosity (jigyasa) remains present in every human being irrespective of how much downfall he may have attained in the course of deluded living. Education's purpose, as I understand, is to address this fundamental curiosity or inquiry of knowing all there is to know - and to take it to closure, i.e. realization in coexistence.
Thank you for your insight re jigyasa as inextinguishable. Could it be this, that is hinted by the fits and starts, and the trials and errors of human's downfall pattern in a never ending search for something more satisfying but elusive for the moment?
Yes. There is no definiteness in a human being until he achieves awakening. All thoughts of delusion are in the purview of pleasant-unpleasant, healthy-unhealthy and profit-loss. Whatever "more satisfying" one tries for remains to be in the limits of these perspectives. One doesn't have any basis for thinking different. This is the reason for the downfall.
I think, the important thing is to understand what is needed to be understood, so that helpless downfall can be stopped and advancement towards desired and acceptable destiny can begin.
